This is the first time that Semarang's archbishop has visited the MAJT during the Idul Fitri prayers along with his secretary, Father Ignatius Triatmoko, and Chairman of Inter-Religious and Faith Commission Father Aloysius Budi Purnomo.

"Our purpose of visiting the MAJT during Idul Fitri is to directly congratulate the Muslims on this joyous day that is full of blessings for all religious communities to build a strong bond of unity and brotherhood," the archbishop remarked.

He explained that the relations between the Catholic congregation and other religious communities in Indonesia were of significant importance and were instrumental in maintaining interfaith unity and harmony in the country.

"It becomes a necessity if we want to build a peaceful Indonesia, and we sincerely want to realize 'rahmatan lil alamin' or become grace and blessing for the entire world," he noted.
