Magelang, Central Java, Antara Jateng - A total of 120 vintage cars from various cities in Indonesia took part in a vintage car rally in Magelang, Central Java Saturday.

The participants of the rally came from Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Semarang, in addition to Magelang, Malang, among others.

Organized by the Ancient Indonesian Association of Car Enthusiasts (PPMKI), in cooperation with Magelang city administration, the vintage car rally was held to mark the 1,110th anniversary of Magelang city.

The rally was flagged off from Magelang city square by the Mayor of Magelang, Sigit Widyonindito, and these rare beauties drove through a 120 km stretch passing through Yogyakarta, Klaten, Boyolali, and from Boyolali returned to Magelang Sunday.

The vintage car rally was an annual agenda to increase friendship among the fans of old-fashioned cars, Widyonindito said.

"Through this event, we want to introduce tourist destinations in the city of Magelang and surrounding areas," he said.

In addition, the vintage car rally was also expected to further revive the economy in Magelang, he said.

"During these two days, hotels in Magelang are fully booked because the rally participants arrived there with their family or entourage," he said.
