Cilacap, Antara Jateng- A landslide hit Dayeuhluhur Village and isolated Bingkeng Village, Cilacap District, on Friday at 8:30 p.m. local time following incessant heavy rains.
The landslide cut off a road connecting Dayeuhluhur and Bingkeng villages, in Dayeuhluhur Sub-district, Tri Komara Sidhy of the Cilacap disaster mitigation office, said here, Saturday.
Bingkeng is located near the border of Central Java and West Java Provinces.
"Today, we will mobilize local inhabitants to help clear mud, soil and rocks blocking the road that connects Dayeuhluhur and Bingkaeng," he said.
The heavy rains also caused Cilapa River to overflow and inundated several houses in Wanareja Village.
In the meantime, a 45-year-old woman was swept away by the current of Mrawu River in Kalilunjar Village, Banjarmangu Sub-distrcit, Banjarnegara District, Central Java, on Friday evening.
On Saturday at 6 a.m. local time, the body of the mentally-ill victim was found around 2 km away from the scene where she fell off into the river.
Indonesia usually experiences dry season in July, but this year, due to weather anomalies, high-intensity rains have lashed several regions, triggering floods and landslides.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has forecast torrential rains that could cause floods, whirlwinds, and landslides during the current holiday season.
