Former Speaker of City Council Facing Jail Term

The prosecutor, who said Tri had embezzled Rp940 million in state fund, also demanded to pay Rp50 million in fine or facing an additional jail term of six months.
The prosecutor said the suspect and Magelang city mayor Fahriyanto and former head of the finance department of the city administration Sureni Ady used the fund to bribe local leaders of political parties in the 2004 general elections.
The fund was originally set aside for coping with problems needing immediate handling such as natural disasters.
The trial was adjourned until next week when the suspect is to read his defense
