Revitalization of the country's sugar industry is to support the program to achieve self sufficiency in sugar supply in the country, Rini said here on Saturday.

"I hope I have the opportunity to see sugar factories in operation after the revitalization program," she said.

She said the revitalization is expected to follow with improvement of productivity of farmers'sugar plantations to 100 tons per hectare.

She said the government has set aside Rp3.5 trillion in capital participation to finance the revitalization of sugar factories of state plantation companies PTPN IX, X and XI.

Indonesia is still dependent on import for sugar consumption.
