President to Officiate Groundbreaking Ceremony of Apartemens For Laborers

The government has planned to expedite the development of 10,000 apartments for laborers, fishermen, civil servants and security officers in 14 provinces across Indonesia, Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri said here on Tuesday after meeting Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo.

Work on the 10,000 apartments is expected to be completed this year. Of the total number of units, 7,600 will be financed by funds allocated in the State Budget (APBN), while the rest will be funded by the Social Security Executive Body (BPJS) for Manpower.

Of the 7,600 units to be built by the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, 1,724 units are ready for construction, while the remaining 5,876 units are still in the stage of land exploration.

As for the 2,400 units to be constructed by the BPJS for Manpower, construction of 1,100 units will soon commence, while locations for the rest are still being sought.

The 14 provinces that will have new apartments are North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Papua.

In Central Java province, the apartments will be built in Semarang, Boyolali and Magelang.
