Solo, Antara Jateng - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took an opportunity to mingle with the people in a Car-Free Day event in his home town in Solo, C Java, on Sunday morning.

Along with the people he walked from Taman Sriwedari to Gladag roundabout or about three and a half kilometer long.

Some presidential security guards and local security personnel were seen guarding him as people jostled to shake hands with the country's number one person.

President Jokowi has been considered as an ideal leader by the people in Solo where he also used to be its mayor before becoming a president and also by the people around it.

"The CFD in Solo is getting more and more popular and participated in by more people," President Jokowi said.

He said the event this time was better than before and there were various kinds of public activities held during the exhaust fumes-free day.

Upon a newsman's question about the planned development of a railway line between Solo's city station and local Adi Soemarmo airport he said "I have ordered starting the development next year. The project has been budgeted," he said.

He said he hoped the project could be immediately carried out in 2017.

After participating in the CFD event President Jokowi visited Kampung Cindirejo, Banjarsari, on the bank of a river where his parents used to live before.
