Masith was welcomed by Operations Director of PT Taman Wisata Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko Retno Hardiasiwi and Head of the Borobudur Conservation Agency Marsis Sutopo.
Masith expressed awe over Indonesia's pluralism. He pointed out that although Indonesia was a Muslim majority country, yet the Borobudur Buddhist Temple had remained preserved.
"Today, we are visiting Borobudur where a Thai king had once come 150 years ago to determine if it was a Buddhist heritage site. An agreement was then reached to develop Borobudur, so the world would know more about it," Mahavira, who accompanied Masith during the visit, stated.
Hardiasiwi hoped that the meeting this time will deepen the relations between Indonesia and Thailand, especially with the Buddhists from Thailand as well as other countries, and they would pay a visit to the temple.
"As a king of Thailand had come here 150 years ago, we hope the bhikus from various sanghas (associations) as well as from Thailand and other countries will bring along their followers to visit Borobudur," she added.
