COVID-19: Indonesia adds 20,574 cases and 355 deaths in single day

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s daily coronavirus cases hit a record on Thursday, with 20,547 fresh infections confirmed in a single day, bringing the total tally to 2,053,995, the Task Force for COVID-19 Response reported.

The task force also recorded 9,201 recoveries, which brought the total number of people recovering from the infection to 1,826,504 so far.

With 355 people succumbing to COVID-19 in a single day, the death toll reached 55,949.

Meanwhile, active cases increased by 11,018 to reach 171,542, while suspected cases stood at 126,696, the task force said.

Jakarta added the highest number of daily cases at 7,505, followed by Central Java (4,384), West Java (3,053), East Java (945), DI Yogyakarta (791), and Banten (599).

There were no fresh cases of COVID-19 in Gorontalo and Maluku provinces.

The highest number of recoveries were recorded in Jakarta (2,438), followed by Central Java (2,254), West Java (1,667), Riau Islands (428), and East Java (394).

Cumulatively, the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases have been registered in Jakarta (494,462), followed by West Java (356,682), Central Java (239,818), East Java (166,831), East Kalimantan (74,632), Riau (68,779), and South Sulawesi (63,390).

The highest recoveries have been reported in Jakarta (445,450), followed by West Java (316,139), Central Java (199,413), East Java (148,264), East Kalimantan (70,835), Riau (63,970), and South Sulawesi (61,490).
