President, family visit Solo Safari
Solo, Central Java (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo, First Lady Iriana Jokowi, and their two grandchildren visited the under renovation Solo Safari tourist attraction in Jurug, Jebres sub-district, Solo, Central Java, on Monday.
They were accompanied by Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka and the Director of PT Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI), Hans Manansang.
The President and his grandson, Jan Ethes, took a tour of Solo Safari, which recently underwent the first phase of renovation.
President Widodo said that he was invited to Solo Safari by Mayor Raka to see the tourist attraction's new look.
"I was compelled by the Mayor to see the revamping of the Taru Jurug Animal Park (TSTJ) in Jebres, which is now a Solo Safari, so good," he remarked.
Jurug Solo Safari is expected to support Solo’s productive assets, which also include the Balekambang Manahan Banjarsari Park, a night market on Jalan Gatot Subroto, and Solo Techno Park, which will be visited by young people.
"I'm just looking at what the Surakarta Mayor showed me," Widodo said.
Jan Ethes said he saw snakes, rabbits, horses, chickens, and turtles at Solo Safari.
"I was holding a snake and I wasn't afraid," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Manansang informed that TSI is pushing to complete the renovation of Jurug Solo Safari so it can be opened on January 27, 2023.
The animals that are currently housed at Solo Safari include honey foxes, zebras, elephants, kangaroos, lions, snakes, horses, and rabbits. It will also have a water park.
"The lion is here already and the komodo dragon will soon arrive at Solo Safari Jurug," Manansang added.
