Semarang, ANTARA JATENG - Central Java overshot its investment target for 2016, head of the regional capital investment office Prasetyo Aribowo said here on Friday.

"The target set for 2016 was Rp27,500 billion and realization was Rp38,183.37 billion, Prasetyo said.

He said the realization was a signal and appreciation of the business sector of Central Java.

"It shows that more investors have indicated interest in doing business in Central Java," he said.

Based on official data , the investment included US$1,030,795,000 in foreign direct investment (FDI) and Rp24,070,352,000,000 in domestic investment.

Prasetyo said domestic investments in 2016 were made in 1,008 projects and FDI in 1,060 projects.

FDI projects are mainly in textile industry totaling 149 projects, trade and repair sector totaling 139 projects, he said.

The largest foreign investors were from South Korea with 223 projects, followed by Singapore with 135 projects and British Virgin Island with 103 projects, he said.

Domestic investors are more interested in trading and repair industry with 182 projects, followed by food processing industry with 148 projects and construction industry with 129 projects.
