Purbalingga To Build Irrigation Dam

Purbalingga, W Java, ANTARA JATENG - The district administration of Purbalingga plans to build a dam in the village of Jambudesa to irrigate rice fields in that area.

"I have discussed the plan with the deputy district head and the public works and housing office. The project would be financed with fund from the district`s 2017 budget," Purbalingga District Head Tasdi said here last weekend.

The irrigation dam would greatly benefit the farmers around the area, Tasdi said, adding, hopefully the farmers could improve productivity through farm intensification.

The villagers said they were pleased to hear the plan. The said they hope the regent would soon bring to reality the long awaited plan.

A dam traditionally built by the farmers has always collapsed when there was heavy downpour unable to hold flowing water from the Kuning river.
